WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM
Tuesday, September 12 – 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

At one time millions of buffalo – or, more accurately, American Bison – roamed the plains of North America. Although they were almost slaughtered into extinction, there are today in excess of 450,000 bison found in North America. Over 1,000 of them reside at Sayersbrook Bison Ranch near Potosi. Begin your experience in the theatre where you’ll see a video on the history of both the animal and the ranch you’re visiting. Then it’s time to board a tram to watch the feeding of the bison. Luck will be served at the lakeside pavilion where you’ll dine on bison, much leaner and healthier than beef! A pontoon boat ride will complete your Sayersbrook experience. Enroute back to St. Louis you’ll stop at Meramec Caverns for an abbreviated tour of one of Missouri’s most popular attractions – and one of the famous stops on Historic Route 66.

Cost per person is $81.00 and includes deluxe motorcoach transportation, a professional Discover St. Louis guide, tour of Sayersbrook Bison Ranch including lunch, tour of Meramec Caverns, gratuities for the guide and driver, all reservations and arrangements.

OF HARMONY, HORSES AND HARDWOOD
Tuesday, October 17-Thursday, October 19

This is a tour that will take you to a place where speed is everything and to a place that time forgot – and it will take you to places where craftsmanship is still a valued trait. New Harmony, Indiana will be our first destination. Here you’ll learn about the Harmonie Society, a religious community that was founded in 1814. Your tour will include an introductory video, craft demonstrations, a guided tour with visits to society
homes – and a tasty lunch at the famed Red Geranium.

Our first night will be spent in Louisville, Kentucky with accommodations at Drury Inn. Dinner will be served up at John E’s Restaurant & Lounge, housed partly in log cabins that date to the 1850’s. It’s a favorite dining spot for Louisville’s horsemen and visiting celebrities. After breakfast the next morning, a local guide will provide some local color during a city tour. Then we’ll stop at Louisville Slugger Museum where they’ve made hardwood bats for baseball’s best since 1884. Your visit features a factory tour and free time in the hands-on museum and gift shop. A box lunch will be served here.

Tranquility best describes our next destination. The restored Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill sits in the Kentucky hills looking much as it did 150 years ago. Tour fourteen of the original buildings – some of which will serve as your lodging for the night. The rooms are furnished with Shaker inspired reproductions and all have private bath, phone and tv.
Dinner will be served in the Trustee’s House featuring hearty Kentucky food and Shaker recipes. Take time while you are here to treasure the quiet and simplicity of this extraordinary place.

After a buffet breakfast the next morning, it’s back to Louisville for a visit to Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby, “the fastest two minutes in sports!” Take a walking tour and view the Grandstand, Finish Line and Winner’s Circle. Tour the Derby Museum featuring “The Greatest Race” video and an exciting new environment full of the sounds, images and artifacts of the Derby. Lunch will be served here overlooking Gate 1.

On our way back to St. Louis we’ll make a stop at the Illinois Artisan Shop and Visitors Center at Rend Lake where some of Illinois’ finest artists present their work. Then it’s back home with a wealth of memories of the places we’ve just experienced.

Cost per person is $395.00 double occupancy; $465.00 single occupancy; $375.00 triple occupancy; and $365.00 quadruple occupancy. Cost includes deluxe motorcoach transportation, professional Discover St. Louis guide, tours of New Harmony and Shaker Village, guided tour of Louisville, admission to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Derby Museum, three lunches, two dinners and two breakfasts, lodging at the Drury Inn in Louisville and Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill including baggage handling, gratuities for the guide and driver, all reservations and arrangements.

NOTE: Pick-up and drop-off points for all tours will be the Ferguson Presbyterian Church, 401 Darst Street, and the Church of the Nazarene, 145 E Old Watson Road, Webster Groves. Complimentary parking will be available for all tours.
